Miko Mei Fair: Georgian Townhouse Reimagined as Thai Culinary Haven in Mayfair
Restaurateur Samyukta Nair unveils Miko Mei Fair, a new Thai dining experience in London's Mayfair, blending traditional townhouse elegance with the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine and robata grill techniques.

A historic Georgian townhouse in London’s Mayfair has been transformed into Miko Mei Fair, a new Thai restaurant offering a distinctive culinary and design experience. The establishment is the latest venture from restaurateur Samyukta Nair, known for her successful London hotspots including Jamavar, Bombay Bustle, and MiMi Mei Fair.
The new 50-cover restaurant, situated on the ground floor of the MiMi Mei Fair building, aims to bring a heightened sense of warmth and flavor to the Mayfair dining scene. Miko Mei Fair pairs the inherent grandeur of its townhouse setting with a menu rooted in the principles of fire, balance, and communal dining, guided by Chef Soonthorn Apaipat, formerly of Koyn Thai.
Intimate Ambiance
Miko Mei Fair cultivates a mood that is both darker and more intimate than many typical Mayfair openings. Candlelight illuminates spaces adorned with glossy wood finishes and patterned banquettes. The interior design maintains the architectural integrity of the Georgian townhouse while amplifying its visual richness. Teal and timber panelling creates a sophisticated base, complemented by plush red leather booths and subtle brass accents. Tropical wallcoverings introduce an element of exoticism, with gold-leaf lotus details providing a delicate nod to Thai aesthetics.
A private dining space, known as The Peacock Room, is concealed behind folding timber screens. This exclusive area can accommodate up to eight guests and features hand-painted chinoiserie wallpaper, further linking the restaurant’s design to its upstairs counterpart, MiMi Mei Fair.
Culinary Fusion: Robata Grill Meets Thai Flavors
Chef Apaipat’s menu draws inspiration from the diverse culinary landscapes of Thailand, encompassing the fiery notes of Isaan cuisine, the rich coconut-based dishes of the South, and the balanced flavors of Central Thailand. The kitchen’s approach is significantly influenced by Koyn Thai’s signature robata-style grill, infusing dishes with a distinct smoky essence.
A standout offering is the Apple Wood Fire Peking Duck Penang Curry, a creative fusion that incorporates the renowned duck from MiMi Mei Fair into one of Thailand’s most beloved curries. Other menu highlights include delicate spring rolls filled with tofu and spring onion, prawns prepared with pla ra (fermented fish sauce), and a tenderloin beef dish served with toasted rice.
For beverages, the signature cocktail is Sabai Sabai, a concoction of Mekong rum, kaffir lime, Thai basil, and soda. Non-alcoholic options are also available, such as the Akoya, which blends cucumber, Thai basil, lychee, lime, and sparkling jasmine tea.
Miko Mei Fair is located at 55 Curzon Street, London W1J 8PG, United Kingdom.
