Bioterra 2026, the eco-fair organized by Basqueti, is set to hold its latest edition at Ficoba from June 5th to 7th, reinforcing its position as a key meeting point for individuals committed to ecological, conscious, and earth-friendly lifestyles. With over two decades of experience, Bioterra continues to foster a growing community dedicated to transforming how we produce, consume, and live.

The 2026 edition marks a significant evolution, amplifying its focus on sustainable and healthy lifestyles by integrating sustainability, health, well-being, and environmental awareness. Under the theme “Cultivamos la eternidad” (We Cultivate Eternity), this year signifies a new chapter, emphasizing the fundamental elements that support the future: organic food, people, connections, and knowledge as the bedrock for building stronger, more conscious communities.

While maintaining its core pillars of agroecology, bio-architecture, responsible consumption, and environmental respect, Bioterra 2026 broadens its scope to encompass dimensions of well-being and quality of life across various aspects, including food, home, energy, cosmetics, and architecture.

Expanding Exhibitor Presence

Bioterra will host approximately 120 exhibiting companies presenting a wide array of products and services. These will span organic food, renewable energy, natural cosmetics, sustainable fashion, bio-construction, and responsible consumption. The fair continues to draw significant participation from the Basque Country and Navarre, which together accounted for 52.5% of exhibitors. The remaining 47.5% featured notable contributions from Andalusia, Catalonia, and Madrid, each representing 8%.

Thematic Spaces and Activities

The fair is structured around three distinct thematic spaces: Amalurra, Sukaldean, and Eskuz Faktoria, offering a rich program of parallel events.

Amalurra: Holistic Well-being

Located in Pavilion 1, Amalurra is dedicated to holistic well-being and health. This space will focus on life stages where well-being holds particular significance, including holistic health, conscious eating, active aging, longevity, and emotional balance. Through diverse content, events, and experiences, Bioterra aims to provide practical advice connecting personal care in later life with environmental stewardship, promoting a more holistic, autonomous, and healthy lifestyle. A notable highlight is the participation of Adinberri, a foundation focused on innovations for aging, which will facilitate discussions on quality of life, autonomy, and social cohesion. The program will feature practical and informative activities such as physical exercise, nutrition guidance, cognitive stimulation, and mindfulness sessions. Topics covered will also include self-care, oral health, natural nutrition, healthy housing, and reducing toxicity. Discussions will extend to sustainable architecture, housing for seniors, and agroecology. Furthermore, selected episodes from the documentary series “¡Esperanza! Estamos a tiempo” will be screened, focusing on real solutions to environmental challenges. These screenings will be followed by panel discussions, offering a hopeful yet pragmatic perspective on building a sustainable future.

Sukaldean: Gastronomic Delights

Pavilion 2 will serve as Bioterra’s gastronomic hub, featuring live cooking demonstrations centered on organic, agroecological, seasonal, and local cuisine. The program will offer insights into healthy eating, fermentation techniques, children’s nutrition, and the utilization of local products, encouraging more conscious ways of cooking and consuming. Building on last year’s success, an dedicated space for organic olive oil will be featured, offering sensory experiences and tastings. This year, the gastronomic offerings are expanded with a cheese tasting event, providing carefully curated recommendations.

Eskuz Faktoria: Hands-On Workshops

Pavilion 3 will host Eskuz Faktoria, Bioterra’s space for participatory workshops focused on practical learning and creativity in sustainability and conscious consumption. The workshop schedule includes sessions on natural cosmetics, textile recycling and reuse, soap making, biomaterials, painting, wild plants, and traditional crafts, with guidance available for all age groups.

Special Events and Recognition

Beyond the thematic areas, Bioterra 2026 will host a variety of special events. These include a used bicycle market, the tenth Bioterra Yoga Day, and an awareness campaign in collaboration with Surfrider focused on the environmental impact of cigarette butts. The exhibition will also feature the Premios Gazteak ON: Reto Alimentario, an award for young people from the Bidasoa-Txingudi region, encouraging sustainable food practices. The program further includes family workshops, educational advice on climate change and sustainability, exhibitions, theater performances, children’s activities, and collaborative mural painting. Daily raffles offering organic products and shopping vouchers will add to the visitor experience.

This edition will also honor the long-standing commitment of several entities and companies that have participated for ten years, including COAVN (Official College of Architects of the Basque Country and Navarre), Txingudiko Zerbitzuak, Baskegur, Mestiza, Filtros Doulton, and Bidasoa Activa. Additionally, a special tribute will be paid during the official opening ceremony on Friday, June 5th, to the 20th anniversary of Eneek – Ekolurra (Basque Council of Organic Agriculture and Food) and the 30th anniversary of CPAEN (Navarre Council of Organic Agricultural Production). These recognitions underscore the vital role of organic production and food in Bioterra’s identity and future.
